Jello Pudding VICTORY!
As some people know, my youngest daughter has food allergies. I've found that she can have vanilla pudding. That would be good and all but we also discovered that pudding doesn't mix all that well with soy milk.
Hmmm....what to do, what to do.
I looked at the mixture and saw that it was somewhat thickened, but not nearly pudding consistency. I wondered what would happen if we added more pudding mix?? Would it thicken with additional pudding or just form an icky clot in the bowl? I added another box, and BINGO! Pudding consistency! My daughter was dancing around the kitchen with joy. It's been ages since she's had good old Jello Pudding! So, now you know how to make it work if you don't have soy allergies.

My Free Magazine Stash
Ok, I know it's been ages since I've updated, but I've been super busy!
It occurred to me that I currently receive a ton of magazines in the mail. Some of these are subscriptions I intentionally requested. My Real Simple, National Geographic, Vegetarian Times, Better Homes And Gardens, Martha Stewart Living and Country Living magazines are the ones I couldn't do without.
Recently, I've gotten other magazines in the mail because I answered a few survey questions. Yep, they promised magazines and I did get the promised goods in the mail. I was a little surprised, but I now receive Metropolitan Home, Elle Decor, Interview and Maxim. Maxim is a substitution for Hallmark Magazine. I was puzzled by the arrival of Maxim but eventually figured it out. The last time Maxim arrived in the mail, my husband brought it inside and asked me why I was now getting Maxim in the mail?? He was holding it between 2 fingers at arms length like something smelly the dog might roll around in. It's good for bathroom reading, if nothing else and I can recycle it when I get sick of looking at Shannon Elizabeth on the cover.
I'll locate the link to free mags and update later so be sure to check back!

Perfect Moments
Sunday night was so very nice. It was one of those evenings advertisers try to convey in their Go Rving ad spots. The sky was that dark evening blue that only happens after the sun is down in the summer months. I sat in the yard swing looking up at winking stars and the green blinks of the occasional firefly. I was joined by my 4 year old who immediately pointed out that the moon was up. The moon in the night sky has long been one of his favorite things. We had several minutes to sit together in the swing, looking up rocking back and forth. We would whisper excitedly each time we saw a firefly and point to where we saw it last. The neighborhood was quiet and the barest of breezes stirred the tree tops. We would catch of whiff of the honeysuckle and tomato plants across the yard. Yep, it was one of those little moments of perfection I look forward to. I think I finally understood what it meant to "be in the moment". There were no distractions to take away from my appreciation of just being there in the swing snuggling my son who still smelled of the pool and sunscreen.
New Goal: More moments like this.

Spring Hill Nursery Order Has Arrived
The free lemon tree I ordered during the promotion from Spring Hill Nurseries has arrived. The tree itself seems to be ok, though it does look like it was chewed by bugs at some point. I think it will survive in spite of that fact.
I ordered the Lemon Tree Kit and it did come with bag of dirt and a 10 inch pot. All in all, I guess it wasn't a bad deal for the shipping price of $7.95.

Thanks JANE4girls Blog for this deal!!
Like most people, I like reading other blogs. The other day, I read JANE4girls blog about getting $20 off your first order at Spring Hill Nursery. I had to hurry over and check it out. I ended up ordering a dwarf lemon tree and only paid for the $7.95 shipping fee. I can't wait to get it!! I already have designs on the lime and orange trees.
So, thank you JANE4girls blog for that addition to my garden!
